Expert Reference Group Domiciliary Care Wales (ERGDCW)
Who we are
Representatives from the public sector, the private sector and the independent sector, all active in Domiciliary Care. People on the group include representatives from Domiciliary Care Association Wales (DCAW), United Kingdom Homecare Association (UKHCA) and Care Forum Wales.
What we do
We meet on average quarterly to address any issues that directly affect our sector. These meetings are usually in Cardiff although we are having a meeting by video conference in January.
At our meetings we often have people from Welsh Assembly Government, Social Care Wales or Care Inspectorate Wales who give us their side of the issues of the day, we are able to give our view on these issues and discuss with them if they will work or not from a provider perspective.
How does this help DCAW?
By having a presence on this group we are ensuring that the voice of the Independent Sector is being heard. Most of what happens in Domiciliary Care happens in Cardiff and by the time we get to hear about issues it is too late to have our say. By having a presence on this group it keeps us abreast of current changes allowing us to think more strategiacally as an organisation.
You must select a pension scheme which meets certain legal requirements. These include, for example, that the scheme does not require the worker's consent to join, it allows workers to join from their first day of employment, it is tax registered in the UK and it allows for the minimum legal contributions from employers and workers.
