I.S.A ON HOLD

Vetting and Barring Scheme is brought to a halt
The Government has announced that the Vetting and Barring Scheme in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be halted with immediate effect whilst it is remodelled to `bring back common sense`.

The Scheme was introduced by the Labour Government to protect children and vulnerable adults by preventing those who pose a known risk from gaining access to them through work or volunteering.

Registration required under the Scheme was due to begin on 26th July 2010. This will now not take place.

Measures that have already introduced will, however, remain i.e. the 2 new `Barred Lists`.

CRB checks will not be affected and those making applications on the new form from 28th June 2010 will still be able to do so, until further notice from the Government.

It is not yet known whether ISA registration will still be introduced at some point.
